New interactive map highlights worldwide movement for smokefree air

Dear GSP members,

We are pleased to share with you some new information on smokefree policies around the world. We recently updated our website with an interactive map which offers details on smokefree policy initiatives at country level. We encourage you to visit the website and to use the map in your own efforts. Details about the interactive map, which is based on our 2009 Global Map of Smokefree Laws, can be found in this newsletter.

Since our last mapping in 2008, more countries have added their voices in support of smokefree air. We hope to continue adding information on local and national efforts as more countries go smokefree!

Best regards,

Global Smokefree Partnership

2009 Global Map of Smokefree Laws

The Global Smokefree Partnership completed its 2009 Global Map of Smokefree Laws in April 2009. The map is divided into the six WHO regions, and provides information on existing or upcoming smokefree policies and resources at the local and national level. The map also identifies common trends by region, and highlights those countries who have established comprehensive smokefree laws.

This resource is now accompanied by an interactive map, which users can access on the GSP websites. Using the interactive map, users can obtain information on specific country policies from their region or around the world.
