The Framework Convention on Tobacco Control Article 8 Toolkit
With the adoption of guidelines for Article 8 of the FCTC in 2007, countries were given a roadmap and a legal framework for protecting their citizens against exposure to secondhand smoke. Comprehensive smokefree policies are now being implemented at national and sub-national levels around the world.
As the smokefree movement accelerates, advocates and policymakers need comprehensive resources that distill evidence and best practices from existing smokefree jurisdictions and can inform the development of strategies and campaigns for the effective implementation and enforcement of smokefree policies.
In order to address this need, the Global Smokefree Partnership has developed a toolkit on Article 8 of the FCTC. The FCTC Article 8 toolkit provides advocates, policymakers, and the media with useful information on best practices in advocating for comprehensive smokefree air laws that will comply with Article 8 the FCTC.
The FCTC Article 8 toolkit was launched at the 3rd session of the Conference of the Parties to the FCTC in November 2008. To download an electronic copy of the toolkit, please click on the link below.
